IDENTITY of the CHRISTIAN - part 3

Renewing the mind

Your life will never be different than your thought life. It takes renewing the mind.
Renewing the mind is possible through this separation of spirit and soul.
That is possible through the Word which works through us daily to change us, correct us and edifying.
We have to have a good mental attitude of faith every day. Make our mind reborn every day.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 AMP
And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete and found blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

The soul is intertwined with the spirit and only the word can divide it (Hebrews 4:12). The spirit and the soul are so intertwined that we won't know the difference. This is where sometimes hearing from God seems like our own thoughts and were not sure and need Scripture to tell us.
The soul is actually the chooser. It is there we guard our mind every moment of every day and by doing so we are kept blameless.

1 Thessalonians 5:24
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

He will do it if our mind chooses to allow him to do it.

God > Holy Spirit > My spirit > My tongues > My mind

The Holy Ghost is connected to our Spirit Man, which is connected to the soul, which is connected to the body. The Holy Ghost does not touch the soul. So for the soul and body to be submitted and led by the Holy Ghost the soul must choose that. It must allow he spirit man to operate.
If we don't feed our soul it will side with the body.

Romans 8:5-6
[5] Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. [6] The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

  • The Soul chooses.
  • The devil can't do anything to us if our soul does not allow it.
  • We control what we choose, but what we choose will control us.
  • The Holy Spirit wants to guide the body but it can only do that if our soul allows it.
  • We don't renew the flesh.
  • We control the flesh through the choosing of the soul.
  • The flesh will always want to choose fleshy things.
  • Everything starts with controlling the mind.
  • The stronger we feed the soul with the word of God the less the body has any voice.
  • We have to put a demand on our mind to change.
