10 Facts about the Atmosphere of Faith

(based on Jerry Savelle sermon notes at Promise of Life Church)

“We cannot catch insanity from another person but we can catch faith.”
Dan Rudisill

ATMOSPHERE of FAITH is a wonderful concept. Here are its key elements.

1. It is created by LIVING in faith

Faith is not a movement (the movement of faith). It is a lifestyle.

2. INVITES God

God loves all people but He is not a respecter of persons. He is a respecter of faith. He sometimes does not enjoy our company because we have not created an atmosphere of faith and so will not spend time with us.

3. CARRIES the power of God

Faith is like the conduit to carry the power of God just as water carries electricity. Faith is required to create an atmosphere conducive for Him to manifest his power.

John 4:13-14
[13] Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again. [14] But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

4. It is CREATED by the Christian, not God

God is a gentleman. He does not force himself on people. There has to be an inviting atmosphere created by Christians. That atmosphere is faith.

5. Negative atmosphere is ANNOYS GOD

Religious people and unbelievers sometimes provoke, i.e. annoy. Fear, negativity is annoying does not please God. The implication is that faith is what pleases God.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

6. The atmosphere of faith is RECOGNIZABLE

Luke 5:17-20
[17] And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.[18] And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. [19] And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. [20] And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

The urgency, persistence and effort that the men had in taking their friend in shows their recognition of the atmosphere of faith existing in that house.

7. The atmosphere of faith places a DEMAND on God

Matthew 9:20-22
[20] And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment. [21] For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. [22] But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Jesus recognized the demand that was placed on him just by the woman with the blood sickness.

8. It activates POWER

We have fullness in faith, not in power. For example, we get healed not because of the power but because we have faith which brings the power. The healing already happened, it is the faith that activates it for us and then we’re full.
Mark 2:5
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

9. Gives us REST

True faith is about rest because when you have faith you receive:
1. Joy
2. Patience
3. Rest

10. It allows us to RECEIVE more

Entering the rest of God, that’s when God gives us more!

10 encouraging facts about ACQUIRING FAITH and HOLDING on to it

Faith is essential for everything we do. Everything. It has been said it it the only currency we hold with God. What faith accomplishes:

Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

(NOTE “believe” in Greek equates it with "has the faith of God")

1. Determining your measure of faith

Mark 11:24
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

The measure of your desire determines your approach.
So after declaring it we stand on it and act as if we've received it.

2. Belief and manifestation are two different things

Jesus is not telling us believe it has manifested. He says believe you've received it. When we receive we receive it immediately in the spirit realm and later in the natural realm. And it is so because the spirit realm is always ahead of the natural. God said let there be light and then (after) there was light.

3. The hand of the spirit man lays his hand on what we ask

That hand is the hand of faith. Don't open your hand. Keep declaring you received it already when you prayed on the day you did.

4. We have the tools to do it: Word and Spirit

2 Timothy 1:13-14 NKJV
[13] Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. [14] That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

God can only manifest in the natural what you have taken in the spirit. And no more worry because once your hand of faith is on it, it is yours.

5. The natural is not your concern

The devil comes to rationalize saying we don't have it yet to get us to open our hand. We stand fast and keep our hand on it every day. We say "we've got it in the invisible form". War of attrition. Why then isn't it the gloves of faith in the armor of God. Because when we grab our gift with the hand of faith the enemy immediately starts working against our holding on and it is the shield of faith that keeps us holding on.

6. Not understanding is not the same as disbelief

Saying it over and over again is not lack of faith. We take it with our hand once only but we tighten our hold every day and don't let the Devil tell us otherwise.

7. Not falling for lies of the enemy

Satan will attack faith by calling it something else: a delusion. He will bring (or use) bad circumstances to constantly say "see, God isn't looking after you at a all, it's all in your head".

One time in 2016 I received a large cheque at a moment when we were with the rope at our necks financially. This was from a potential client but had come much earlier than expected. It was unusual and unlikely so I immediately attributed it to God. Thanks to Carol we looked into it and discovered that it was a fraudulent check. I was taken aback because I was sure at the time that it was God that I had sent this as a blessing.
Then I realized that if this was for me I would have it but it was not for me. I lost nothing because what God has for me I have already received! This was merely a distraction from the enemy to make me lose faith and disown what I already have in faith. I didn't bite. This was a huge lesson as tangible to me as if I had received the money.

8. The Spirit guides our desires

Important to note that we take what the spirit leads us to take. If we say "I take everything" without specifying then it means we have not been searching our spirit and we have no hold.

If the devil is pounding every day it's good because it means he hasn't gotten in yet. In any area, if we keep getting tempted we just continue declaring our faith.

9. Protect faith by prayer

It is vital not to lose what we have acquired by faith. We doit by praying. We have a supply in Heaven which need to be protected. It needs to be protected by us. Because faith is our responsibility. We protect not so much our supply but the access we have to that supply. For only we can protect our hearts.

Mark 11:25
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

With the faith of God His work becomes our work. It's a partnership.

10. Not steeping back from the momentum

It is important not to step back from the “momentum of faith”. Once you do that it is very difficult to step back into it.

Matthew 13:12
[12] For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Often the protection of our faith comes by watching our tongue, watching our attitude. If we protect the faith we have we are protecting all that God had for us in Heaven. We have a supply in the “store” of Heaven and we must not let our tongue set fire to the store.
