SALVATION - Part 1

Between the festivals of Christian EASTER and Jewish PASSOVER it is good to meditate on the very foundation of our faith: Jesus' work for our salvation.
The following is based on a sermon by Pastor Craig Field from Promise of Life Church in Canada.

-------------

Reasons Jesus came

To save:

Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Luke 5:32
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

1 Timothy 1:15
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners---of whom I am the worst.

1 John 4:14
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

Matthew 20:28
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

John 12:27
“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.

1 John 3:5
But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.

Hebrews 9:26
Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

John 12:46
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

To give life:

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

1 John 4:9

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
